Griffith Observatory

Planetary Alignment Observation

May 11, 2002

Permission to Dream set up telescopes on the lawn in front of Griffith Observatory to see the rare planetary alignment of all the visible planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.  There was a great crowd from around the Los Angeles community including kids, NASA astronomers and Space Frontier Foundation members.  The four Galilean moons of Jupiter and Saturn's rings constituted the highlights of the evening.

Joe McMhan (right), one of the Permission to Dream’s assistant astronomers, sets up his own telescope to view the planetary alignment.
